Massage Therapy for Headaches
Many people are plagued with headaches. They come in many sizes and shapes, such as tension headaches, sinus headaches, cluster headaches and migraines.
Relieving the pain
Many factors may be involved in causing this pain, including prior injuries, poor posture, incorrect ergonomics, and hormones. Massage can help relieve headaches. By reducing muscle tension in the neck, jaw, and face, massage can reduce pressure on the blood vessels and nerves going to the head.
Before you reach for some aspirin try massage therapy instead.
Many different massage techniques can be used to relieve the pain of a headache. For example, deep tissue massage with longitudinal stripping can help reduce muscle tightness, PNF stretches can help elongate shortened muscle and fascia. Lymphatic drainage can reduce congested tissues. Many trigger points can be deactivated with neuromuscular therapy. And best of all, treatments usually included many tips on things you can do on your own to prevent a headache or nip one in the bud.
